ANTHONY GANGI JR. GAINS EXPERIENCE IN LA CONCA

Tony Kart driver battles difficult high grip situations at WSK Master Series
13 April 2016

Travelling overseas for another event on his 2016 calendar, American karting standout Anthony Gangi Jr. would do battle in the WSK Super Master Series round three in La Conca, Italy. Competing aboard his familiar Tony Kart chassis under the Ward Racing banner, the multi-time champion would once again be in the OK division in his quest for constant improvement and solid results in the highest level of karting around the world.

“This past weekend was the most rubber that I have ever driven on as the track took on more and more grip throughout the weekend,” explained Gangi Jr. “It was difficult to drive but I was able to gain experience that I can use in the future.”

After qualifying in the 21st position, Gangi Jr. would begin his steep learning curve of driving on the rubber. Moving forward in the first of three heats, the New York resident would be classified in the 17th position before coming home 22nd and 24th in heats two and three. Classified in the 22nd position after the heats had concluded, the Ward Racing pilot would lead into Sunday with an outside row eleven starting position for the prefinal.

Moving forward in the prefinal and remaining consistent in the main event, Gangi Jr. would post a 19th place finish in both of Sunday’s wheel-to-wheel competition to close out his weekend.

Gangi Jr. continued, “Racing in Europe is a lot different than racing in the United States. The aggression put forth by the Senior level drivers is second to none; almost any driver can win any given weekend and you really need to be on your game and a master in every condition to be at the front. I learned a lot and am committed to being better prepared moving forward to future events.”

With only a few short weeks off, Anthony Gangi Jr. will refocus as he prepares for his next event. Continuing his rigorous off track training program, the young American will be back behind the wheel May 11-15 for the first round of the CIK-FIA European Championship in Zuera, Spain. Making a quick turnaround, Gangi will then be back on track the following weekend for the final round of the WSK Super Master Series May 19-22. Taking place at the Adria International Raceway in Northern Italy, Gangi Jr. will be looking to finish the WSK Master Series strong before he enters the heart of the 2016 karting season.
