8 Feb 2012

GT7 Motorsports, along with team driver Dylan Tavella, will look to keep their momentum moving forward as Tavella makes his first trip to the Homestead Karting Complex located just outside Miami, Florida. Tavella's last outing in the Florida Winter Tour was the Micro Max weekend at Palm Beach International Raceway were the New York state driver scored double podiums while running at the front throughout the event. Tavella and tuner Bob Radivoy will use this weekend of Vortex Mini Rok racing as a tune up for the Rotax Max program taking place at Homestead the following weekend. Tavella has been adjusting well to the new Tony Kart cadet package that he debuted at the opening round of the FWT in the Mini Rok class. The nine-year-old racer is building a strong resume very quickly and will be joined by fellow GT7 drivers in the Mini Rok class. Heading to Homestead for the first time can be a tough challenge but Tavella is confident he and his GT7 Motorsports team can rise to the challenge.

"We left some speed on the table in the opening round of the Mini Rok class," commented Phil Tavella, GT7 Team Principal. "There is some ground to make up in the championship and we are looking forward to our first trip to Homestead. Dylan is really good at learning new tracks and loves the challenge."

The opening weekend of Mini Rok was solid for Tavella as he showed excellent speed in this first Florida Winter Tour run in the class. Tavella took 11th in the Saturday final just missing the top ten. On Sunday contact would send the second year racer back to 29th while running in eighth place in the closing stages of the race. Tavella now sits back in 16th in the championship points tally with four rounds of racing still to go.

"I really want to run inside the top ten all weekend. This is my first race at Homestead and I like learning new tracks. We should be fast," comments Dylan Tavella. "The Tony Kart is really good and the GT7 team is great. I like Mini Rok because I get to race against some drivers I don't race against in Micro Max. It's really good preparation for the Rotax weekend of the Florida Winter Tour."

Tavella and the entire GT7 Motorsports crew will be on hand for this weekend's round of the Florida Winter taking place at the Homestead Karting Complex located near Miami, Florida. Tavella will be joined by Anthony Gangi Jr. for the Mini Rok TaG Cadet weekend. That will be followed with a return trip to Homestead to contest the Micro Max class for Tavella and Mini Max for Gangi Jr.
